Tips for candidates
Here are a few tips we feel are important to increase the speed and efficiency of any executive search process:
- Be flexible: your timing may differ from the one of our clients. Because our client’s decision makers may be located outside the country, additional time may be needed along the search assignment process.
- Understand the nature of our mission to avoid disappointment: we are looking for the best match possible to address our clients’ needs and potential candidates. Our clients pay us for this service. Therefore, we will sometimes not pursue an excellent candidate because he or she does not entirely meet our clients’ requirements.
- Follow-up with us and be transparent: when we approach you for an assignment, please do some follow-up with us to show your interest in a position and let us know about any other search you are in at the same time.
- Refer a friend or colleague that may fit the job description. If we contact you regarding an assignment we conduct and you are not interested, you may think of someone you can recommend us. This always a good way to stay in touch with a recruiter and establish a relationship.
- Refrain from including “everything” in your resume: you are an experienced executive and probably have a lot of experience and multiple skills, but it is important to present only the most important information on one or two pages. You want to appeal and raise the interest of the reader but you do not want to tell everything and loose people into details.
If you wish to send us your resume to be added to our database, please send it in a Word format, naming it with your first name followed by your last name (i.e. JohnDoeresume08.doc) and address it to contact@dsmlexecutivesearch.com
